There’s something truly magical about the holiday season in Europe, where centuries-old traditions and festive markets turn cities into winter wonderlands. This year, we’re setting off on a once-in-a-lifetime Christmas journey from Nuremberg, Germany, to Budapest, Hungary, with stops at some of Europe’s most enchanting cities along the way.
Our adventure will begin in Nuremberg, famous for its Christkindlesmarkt and medieval charm. From there, we’ll board an Avalon Waterways Christmas Market cruise, floating along the Danube River through picturesque towns like Regensburg, Salzburg, Melk and Vienna. Each stop promises its own festive delights—from baroque architecture to cozy markets brimming with handmade treasures. After the cruise ends in Vienna, we will spend two days in Bratislava, Slovakia.
We’ll end our journey with a week in Budapest, a city we’re eager to explore for its history, thermal baths, and vibrant holiday atmosphere. One of the highlights will be a day trip to Lovászpatona, Rob's paternal grandmother’s birthplace, and the serene shores of Lake Balaton.
We’re thrilled to embark on this journey and share it with you, dear friends and family. Follow along as we explore some of Europe’s most magical Christmas destinations, savor local treats, and create unforgettable memories.
